All Whatcom County Boys & Girls Clubs, are closed for Thursday, December 18th & Friday, December 19th.
All Basketball games & practices on these days are canceled, as well as Transportation.
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
IN GENERAL, the Boys & Girls Clubs follow these guidelines and procedures regarding snow policies, and other inclement weather conditions:
1. Decisions are made based primarily upon safety. Is it safe (walking and driving) for children and staff to arrive to the Club or program sites? How do we avoid the unsafe circumstance of being "stranded" at the Club or program sites?
2. If the local school is closed, the local Club is closed. This may vary district to district.
3. If the school closes early, such as at noon, then the local Club is closed.
4. If school is on a delay-- for example, opening two hours late-- then the Club's before-school program is also two hours late.
5. Anytime a school is closed, all activities at the school (such as basketball games or practices) are canceled. Again this may vary district to district. For example, Mt. Baker may be closed, but Bellingham open.
6. For updated information, and on Saturdays (sports), the Branch Directors or Athletic Directors may leave updated messages on their Club's outgoing voice mail.
Bellingham 527-9777
Ferndale 384-0753
Blaine 332-3008
Lummi Island 758-2828
Lynden 354-9959
Main office (including general information for all Clubs) 738-3808
7. Athletics: Our Athletic Directors (Abe, Emily, Rick, Keegan, Tony, Iona) generally notify the coaches with specific instructions regarding cancellations. Coaches are encouraged to contact the appropriate Athletic Director. Situations and sites may vary. Parents and kids--call your coach FIRST before you call the Club. Thank you.
During Winter Break (Dec. 22,23,29,30,31 and Jan. 2) the Boys & Girls Club of Ferndale will work closely with the City of Ferndale, Police & Fire Departments to decide if roads and weather conditions are safe enough for the Club to be open. We hope to make the decision by 6am each day. Club hours during Winter Break are 10am-4pm (free) with Early Bird from 7am-10am
($10 per day if you aren't signed up for the monthly program). Check Club voicemail & Whatcom Clubs for the most complete up to date information.
