Capital Campaign Update

The Boys & Girls Club has officially entered into the public phase, Phase II, of our Campaign for Kids Capital Campaign. The centerpiece of the Capital Campaign is a new Clubhouse in Ferndale. The organization was already on the path to replacing the Ferndale facility when the Clubhouse was lost to a fire in January of 2007. The communities of Ferndale, Whatcom County and beyond have truly responded to the need that exists now, more than ever. To date, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County has over $2.4 million pledged or in the bank toward the $4.5 million goal.
The new facility will be built in 2009 on the SE corner of Cherry St. and Second Avenue in Ferndale. Approaching 18,000 sf, the facility will house a full community-minded youth development facility. Included in the design will be a separate Teen Center (Rotary Club of Whatcom County North- Metcalf Memorial Teen Center), a full-court regulation size gymnasium, tech center, fine and performing arts center, social recreation area, nutrition center and much more. The Facility will be designed respectful of Ferndale's historic past, in an early 1900's look and feel.
The Boys & Girls Club in Ferndale serves nearly 1500 children each year, that number expected to grow once a new facility is built. It is anticipated that the Club will need to "touch" each person in Whatcom County at least once for a contribution to this project! If you would like to beat us to the punch and contribute to the Campaign to build the new Ferndale Clubhouse, please call Josh Wilund at 360.384.0753
